Design Story

The design behind the Ming Yoga Mat, featuring a panda + a bamboo palm tree, was thoughtfully crafted to evoke a sense of serenity, harmony and peace within. We wanted to incorporate elements of nature into this design, and we used a combination of linear geometric patterns and soft rounded edges to symbolize balance.

Panda:
The panda, a symbol of peace and tranquility in many cultures, represents a calm + centered state of mind – something we work towards in our meditation practices. Pandas are also known for their gentle nature, regardless of their surroundings, representing a state of equanimity.

Bamboo tree:
Bamboo trees are one of the fastest growing plants on Earth. According to Feng Shui, the bamboo tree is a symbol of strength, growth + purity. The tall trunk signifies stability, while the swaying branches represent harmony.

The top surface of this yoga mat is made with 100% natural cork – an eco-friendly, non toxic, earthy material for a safe + supported practice. The base of the yoga mat is made from natural tree rubber, for its anti-skid + shock absorption properties, ensuring the mat doesn’t slip on any floors.
